THE Eastgate Theatre is putting on a range of new creative classes for adults from next month.

Covering almost every form of dance from ballet to bollywood to visual art and knitting, the programme has been set up to give Borderers the chance to learn new skills - or shake the rust of some existing ones!

Fiona Henderson School of Dance is offering brand new classes in modern ballet on Monday evenings and tap on Wednesday evenings, while Live for Dance has two fun-filled options: the Just Jhoom Bollywood dance fitness, as well at the Let’s Dance class, which gives you the chance to burst out some moves in a range of different styles. Both of these are on Thursday evenings.

These new classes have been added to the established day-time events in classical ballet, tap and jazz for exercise.

Trish Ward from Doodle Hub has also launched an art class for adults on Tuesday afternoons.

Options include basic drawing skills, sculpting using paper mache, or Modroc to create 3-D models.

And Ursula Rautenbach has introduced two new, relaxed workshops for beginners to intermediates in hand-knitting and crochet work.

In Merino Aran Hand Warmers (Nov 6), Ursula will show participants how to knit a pair of fingerless mitts using Aran weight merino yarn.

Participants of the workshop will learn how to knit a rib, practice increasing and separate for thumb and casting off.

The second workshop, Crochet Snowflakes (Dec 4), takes inspiration from the symmetry of snowflakes.

From beginner to intermediate level, participants will learn to crochet a range of snowflakes using crisp white cotton yarn.

Once finished, they are then ready to hang as a window display or add to other Christmas craft projects.

All courses run as part of the Eastgate Theatre’s Engage programme. Full details on dates and prices can be found online at: www.eastgatearts.com, or by phoning the Box Office on: 01721 725777.
