LAMANCHA mum Jo Bullough has been pipped at the post in the nationwide Miss Pin Up UK competition.

The contest, which celebrates women regardless of age or size, took place in the Voodoo Crypt of the London Tattoo Convention held in the Tobacco Docks.

Of the 20 semi-finalists who took part last Friday, September 23 just eight made it through to Saturday’s final.

In order to secure a place on the Saturday, each of the 20 finalists performed their special talent followed by question and answers with the judges.

Jo told the Peeblesshire News: “There was one winner, singer Scarlet Franco Le Fey, and two runners up.

“I feel elated to have come so far in the competition and really proud to have spread my message of body positivity to so many people in the process. Now it’s over there is an inevitable sense of anti-climax but I am also excited about what the future holds.

“I used the performances of my ‘special talent’ in the semi finals and the finals to write and talk about issues that are important to me and which I feel will help and inspire other women, the main one, of course, being body positivity.

“Since I’ve been home, my feet haven’t had time to touch the ground! I’ve been overwhelmed with messages, cards and hugs from family and friends. I can’t thank them enough for all their support during this journey.”

Speaking of her plans for the future, Jo added: “My plans now are to start a regular column in a magazine about this issue and to reach as many people as possible via social media (https://www.facebook.com/fifivalentineofficial).

“Next year I will certainly return to the competition, perhaps as a mentor or judge, or just as cheerleader for all the brave and talented women who choose to take part.”
