The one-day symposium from Football v Homophobia that lifts up LGBTQ+ voices across the game is a fringe offering at Manchester Pride, which is one of the U.K.’s biggest Pride festivals.

It takes place as part of Manchester Pride tomorrow Friday August 25 at Manchester Metropolitan University on Friday 25 August (10am to 4pm)

And there is also the opportunity for those attending to be part of a group marching in the Parade on Saturday August 26, under a Football Pride banner.

In September 2022, Zander came out via a Facebook post his extended family and close friends, including teammates at his old club, Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Since then he has worked closely with TIE (Time for Inclusive Education) one of Scotland’s leading LGBTQ charities. PFA Scotland, the national players’ union, and Football v Homophobia Scotland.

He was also a parade leader at Edinburgh Pride in June and his Gala Fairydean Rovers jersey has been added to the exhibits on display in the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden Park, the national stadium.

In June he returned to Galashiels for Changing Rooms, Changing Minds: An Evening with Zander Murray where he discussed the challenges LGBTQ+ athletes face in sport at a special event held at Borders College's Netherdale campus.
