BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Hawick man who admitted assaulting a woman by grabbing hold of her clothing and pushing her against a wall.

Thirty-one-year-old Andrew Clamp pleaded guilty to the offence which happened near his home in Fairhurst Drive, on February 15 last year.

He also admitted assaulting a 72-year-old man and also damaging a wall at Borders General Hospital by headbutting it.

Sentence was deferred at Jedburgh Sheriff Court until May 7.
