HAWICK United shocked their Division B title rivals Newtown with a thumping 6-1 win.

Both teams were unbeaten ahead of the Wilton Lodge Park clash, but Liam Lavery and Kevin Strathdee notching doubles with Ryan Shepherd and ex-Leithen Rovers man Simon Philbin completing the rout.

Newtown’s miserable afternoon was completed by a penalty miss, but the Villagers remain top of the league having played two games more than United.

Gala Hotspur look in relegation trouble already in Division B as Callum Hope, Rory Scott, Darrel Johnstone and Scott Duncan found the net for Hawick Legion in a 4-0 win over Spurs.

A Ewan Hutchison hat-trick saw Kelso Thistle defeat Coldstream Amateurs 4-2, with Jordan Lauder scoring both for the Streamers.

And Biggar United edged a seven goal thriller over Leithen Rovers at Carnwath.

Chirnside United dragged themselves into the Division A title race by beating leaders Stow 1-0 at Comrades Park.

Graeme Gillie’s double saw Gordon make it two wins in a row with a 3-2 win at Hawick Waverley, while Greenlaw edged out Tweeddale Rovers and Tweedmouth Amateurs narrowly beat Langholm Legion, both by 1-0 scorelines.

Sean Robertson scored all four goals for Duns Amateurs but the Dingers could only draw 4-4 with Division C title rivals CFC Bowholm at Canonbie.

Ian Turnbull notched a brace as Hawick Legion Rovers beat Selkirk Victoria 3-1, and there were also wins for Kelso Amateurs and St Boswells, while Melrose and Lauder shared the points.

Meanwhile, Linton Hotspur will play Biggar United or Hawick Legion in the Wright Cup semi-finals after despatching depleted Earlston Rhymers 4-1 at Auchendinny.
